On Thursday, 24.10.2024, the Archaeology Student Society meeting was held in the Archaeology Laboratory. New registrations were accepted, and the Board of Directors was elected. Ideas were exchanged regarding the activities the society will carry out during the current academic year, and it was decided to meet again in early December to carry out the targeted activities.
The day and time of the Faculty Orientation Training for first-year students at the Faculty Conference Hall has been updated to Wednesday at 13:30; an announcement to our first-year students!
Tekirdağ Archaeology Museum Director Abdulgani Tarkan paid a return visit to our department within the scope of the new term cooperation. TNKU Archaeology Department and Tekirdağ Archaeology Museum agree to continue strengthened stakeholder cooperation within the scope of the Archaeology Department education and training activities. With this aim, it was decided that the students of the Archaeology Department would first make a technical trip to Tekirdağ Archaeology Museum at the beginning of the Fall Semester.

Our Archaeology Department Academicians Prof. Dr. Hatice Kalkan and Res. Asst. H. Burak Soy exchanged views with Tekirdağ Archaeology Museum Director Abdulgani Tarkan in his office within the scope of the new term cooperation. TNKU Archaeology Department and Tekirdağ Archaeology Museum have reached a consensus on maintaining a strengthened stakeholder cooperation within the scope of the Archaeology Department’s educational and training activities. Accordingly, it was deemed appropriate to increase the number of visits of Archaeology Department students focused on both institutional functioning and the examination and classification of archaeological artifacts in the Museum and to include them in a participatory learning process. In addition, it was concluded that it would be beneficial to plan a cultural inventory activity that would partially cover Tekirdağ and the surrounding provinces with a focus on the Museum and the University, and then propose it as a project. Mutual visit plans were made with the aim of transferring the professional experience and knowledge of the museum employees to the students.
Our department graduated from the 2023-2024 Academic Year at a ceremony organized by our Faculty of Arts and Sciences on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. We are proud of our graduates and wish them continued career success!

The archaeological surface research conducted by Prof. Dr. Hatice Kalkan in the ancient city of Hypaipa within the borders of today's Ödemiş/Günlüce enabled the documentation of the archaeological and historical remains of the region. The research results were published in a book study and distributed free of charge to public institutions and relevant local people in the region (20 copies). In this way, it was aimed to raise awareness of the archaeological and cultural heritage of the region on a social scale. 17.11.2022
